Custom Floating Shelves
Shelves with no visible brackets, made to the length and depth you need and fixed to carry what you put on them.
Clean shelves that hold their load
Floating shelves look simple, but the fixing does all the work. A shelf with hidden brackets has to be stiff enough not to droop and fixed into a wall that can take the load. That is why we check the wall first and size the shelf for what it will carry.
A common mistake is choosing the shelf length first and the load second. A 1.2-metre shelf for a few plants needs a very different section from the same shelf filled with cookbooks, so we ask what each shelf will hold before we size it. We also check for pipes and cables in the wall before drilling, because the fixing points matter as much as the shelf itself.
They suit alcoves, kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and studies, and work well in short runs of two or three shelves. For a full wall of books, custom bookshelves are usually the better choice.

Planning details
Wall type
Block walls take heavy loads well. Plasterboard walls need the fixings planned around the studs or with suitable fixings.
Length and depth
Longer and deeper shelves need thicker sections and stronger fixings to stay level.
Lighting
LED strips can be set into the underside of a shelf. We plan the cable route with you.
Alignment
Shelves are lined up with nearby furniture, windows or a TV so the wall looks planned.
Materials and finishes
Floating shelves are usually made as a box over a hidden bracket, so the finish can match almost anything.
- Wood veneer. Oak or walnut faces for a natural look.
- Painted MDF. A colour to match or contrast with the wall.
- Solid timber. For a thick, chunky shelf where the timber grain shows on the edges.
- Laminate. Hard-wearing for kitchens and children’s rooms.

- Send the wall. A photograph of the wall and the length and number of shelves you want.
- Check the wall. We check the wall type and the services in it before fixing. The visit is free within Dubai.
- Fixed price. You confirm sizes and finish and receive a written, fixed price.
- Make. The shelves are made in our workshop.
- Fit. We fix the hidden brackets, level the shelves and clean up.
