Custom Window Seats
Built-in seating under a window or in an alcove, with storage underneath and a cushion made to fit.
Seating and storage in one
Window seats make use of the space under a window, which is often left empty because furniture would block the light. A built-in seat adds a place to sit and read, and the base becomes storage for toys, blankets or shoes.
Every window is different, so the seat is designed around it. We check the sill height, the window frame, any air-conditioning vent below the window and the way the window opens, then set the seat depth so it is comfortable without blocking the light. In bay windows, the seat can follow the angles of the bay.
They suit bedrooms, living rooms, children’s rooms and entrance halls. In an entrance, a built-in bench with shoe storage may fit better; see shoe cabinets and benches.

Seat with shelving
A seat under the window with shelves on either side, framing the window.
Bench with drawers
Deep drawers in the base, easy to reach without moving the cushion.
Lift-up seat
A hinged seat top over a storage box, useful for bulky items.

Air-conditioning and sockets
We check for vents, sockets and pipes under the window and plan around them.
Seat height and depth
Set for comfortable seating and to clear the window frame and sill.
Cushions

Back support
A panelled back or fixed cushions where the wall is cold or hard.
Materials and finishes
The seat should match the joinery and the room.
- Painted MDF. A clean finish that matches walls and other joinery.
- Wood veneer. A warmer timber look.
- Laminate. Hard-wearing for children’s rooms.
- Upholstery. Seat and back cushions. See upholstery.
- Hardware. Soft-close drawer runners or lid stays for lift-up seats.

How it is made
- Send the window. A photograph of the window and its width, and the height of the sill.
- Measure. We measure and check for vents, sockets and pipes. The visit is free within Dubai.
- Drawing and fixed price. You approve the design and receive a written, fixed price.
- Make. The seat is made in our workshop.
- Install. Our team fits the seat and cleans up.
What affects the price
The main factors are:
- The length and depth of the seat.
- Drawers or a lift-up seat.
- Shelving at the sides.
- Cushions and upholstery.
- The finish.

Can a window seat go over an air-conditioning vent?
Often, with a grille or a gap built in. We check the vent at the survey.

Drawers are easier for everyday items. A lift-up seat holds bulkier things.
